The IBJA benchmark, republished with attribution, the rate jewellers and comparison sites quote. Each purity is taken as IBJA quotes it; 22K is not computed as 22/24 of the 24K figure, because the quoted number is not exactly that.
IBJA publishes no open API, so we read a third-party consumer relay that names IBJA as its source in every response. The parser checks that claim on each fetch and fails if it stops being true, since the attribution depends on it.
This carries IBJA's own terms, not CC BY 4.0, see
Sources & licences. It is the one dataset here that is not
freely relicensable, and it is labelled ibja-attribution throughout.
Why not derive it
Until recently these were derived, not relayed:
INR_per_gram = USD_per_troy_oz ÷ 31.1035 × USD_INR × (1 + import_duty) × (1 + gst)That was cleaner on licensing and shipped its own inputs for re-derivation. It was also about 3.5% below the domestic benchmark every day, because the only USD spot price we may lawfully redistribute is the World Bank Pink Sheet: a monthly average. No amount of correct arithmetic fixes a stale input.
A number that is wrong by 3.5% is not useful under any licence.
What this is not
Not a retail jeweller's rate. Shop prices add making charges, wastage and local premium, and vary by city and store.
Coverage
Rupee prices go back roughly 45 days (the relay's own limit) and deepen one day at a time as we run. There is no archive to backfill from.
XAU.USD.OZT is monthly to 1960; there is no licensable daily USD gold
source. Daily rows carry status: "estimated" and a filled_from pointing at
the month anchor.
