What this figure is, and is not
This is the metal value only. What a jeweller charges you additionally includes making charges, wastage and GST, and their buying rate when you sell will be lower again. Treat this as the benchmark those quotes are built from, not as a price anyone will transact at.
The rate is the IBJA benchmark, republished with attribution. It is not derived from a USD spot price and an exchange rate, which is what most calculators do and is why they disagree with your local rate by a few percent. See the gold dataset for provenance and licence.
